カバー曲ですけど、ディランの中でも好きな曲で、時々不意に脳内出現する一曲。
多くの方々、あらゆるジャンルでカバーされていますのでクラシックなスタンダードナンバーと思ってましたが1967年なんですね。

往年のタップ・ダンサーであり、サミー・デイビスJr.の師匠でもあるビル・ロビンソン（Mr.Bojangles）の落ちぶれた姿を歌った曲ではありません。
そもそもビル・ロビンソンの晩年は落ちぶれていなかったそうですし。
どうせ、誤解するなら人間風車の曲という事にしておきましょうか。
日本人も沢山、いろんな訳詞でカバーしています。沢田研二、山本リンダ、マイク真木、フォーリーブスのター坊まで見つけられました。
日本語が解ってしまうだけに訳詞の問題でなかなか上手く行っていないようですので割愛しますが。
オリジナルで口（耳）直しする必要が出るもんで。
自分なりにこの曲が多くの人にカバーされる魅力、その意味をなんとなく感じていたのですが日本語訳詞からは、なかなか自分の捉えた魅力とは違った側面からカバーされているのではないかとさえ思います。
