Zappa
1960年代以降、圧倒的な独創性で音楽史上最大規模のディスコグラフィを築き上げ、数多くのミュージシャンに影響を与えたザッパ。数千時間にも及ぶ初公開のアーカイブ映像など膨大な量の資料・素材を通し、商業的な成功とは別次元の世界を生きた彼の音楽キャリアとその背後にある私生活を探求。一般的には狂気の変人というイメージであったザッパの知られざる人間性と芸術への真摯なアプローチを浮き彫りにし、伝説的アーティストの妥協なき精神を描き出す。
フランク・ザッパ。このレジェンドについては曲とかあまり聴いたことないし、聴いてもピンと来なかったりしてたけどドキュメンタリー観てみた。
ザッパと言えば印象的なお髭とスモーク・オン・ザ・ウォーターの情景くらいだからなぁ。
後者のEPはドキュメントでも触れてた。
基本的に思ってたんと違う音楽性や人間性が知れて良かった。変人のイメージあったけど真面目な変人なんですな。
地下のビデオ保有がすんごい事になってる。
チェコに迎えられるザッパ胸熱。
楽曲的にはオケにタクト振るうタイプのが良かった。
ザッパ信者には堪らん一本である事が容易に知れる。良く知らなくてもドキュメントとして面白い。
本作契機で自分も信者になるかというとそれは絶対無いけれど聴きたくなった。
膨大なアルバム何処から聴けば良いのか解らないので取り合えず3時間超のサントラを聴いてみよ。
何しろ数あるジャケットの中でも本ドキュメントのポスター・ビジュアルがダントツかっこ良いので。
